RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) After the tragic passing of Representative Sean Mcpherson earlier this year -- voters elected him as the second person to fill the seat for District 32, meaning the Pennington County Republicans would have to vote for someone else to fill his spot on the ballot.
Pennington County Republicans held this election -- nominating both Chris Johnson, a local businessman, and Ed Randazzo...who was the third candidate on the June Primary, losing to Scyller Borglum and McPherson.
Chris Johnson won the nomination, and will now run with Borglum in the general election. Johnson says he is grateful to emulate many of the same things that representative Mcphearson stood for.
Chris Johnson, District 32 candidate says. "I feel a lot of comradery with the positions that he took and the way that he conducted himself. I felt a calling to come in and serve in that capacity. I am thankful that I got the support of his wife and the voting members here."
Republicans Borglum and Johnson will run against Democrats Susan Kelts and Angel Staley in November.
