For many teens, prom is a major milestone, and capturing this special moment can be a huge priority.
Students took over several scenic locations throughout Rapid City including Canyon Lake Park and Memorial Park.
Hundreds of high schoolers were taking pictures at Chapel in the Hills, sporting colorful dresses and dashing tuxedos.
One high school senior says she's heading to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in the fall, and that she wants to create memories before her and her friends go their separate ways for college.
Autumn Sudrala says, "Well we're all graduating, going different places so you got to just remember memories and the good times with your friends."
Autumn says Chapel in the Hills is a nice central location where they get to take photos with friends from different schools.
More than a thousand high schoolers are expected to attend the Central-Stevens prom tonight at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center's Don Barnett Arena.
