Bus loaded with students hit broadside in Box Elder

BOX ELDER, S.D. (KEVN) - A Douglas School district bus was hit broadside by a car Tuesday afternoon in Box Elder.

According to a release from the Box Elder Police Department, several of the 58 K-12 students on the bus reported possible “head and body aches, and where evaluated at the scene by emergency medical services.”

The car’s driver, 26-year-old Krystal Bordeaux of Box Elder, was cited for failing to yield after a stop.

The police say Bordeaux, on Gumbo Drive, stopped at the intersection with Highway 14-16 and as the school bus crossed her path, she pulled out onto the highway, hitting it.
Neither Bordeaux, nor her two children with her were reported injured in the crash.
