RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The woman whose body was found in a vehicle following a New Year’s Day chase has been identified as the mother of the man driving the SUV.

Michelle Nanette Walsh, 58 of Palm Springs, Calif. was found wrapped in a blanket in the back of an SUV driven by her son, 30-year-old Tosten David Walsh Lommen of Santa Cruz, Calif.

An autopsy was conducted on Walsh but the results are still pending. The death, according to a release from the state Attorney General’s Office, is still under investigation.

A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper first spotted Lommen driving more than 100 mph on Interstate 90 in Spearfish. The trooper pursued Lommen into Rapid City where road spikes finally stopped the vehicle.
