KEYSTONE, S.D. (KEVN) - There is a new way to travel through the Black Hills and it involves two wheels.
Black Hills Scootours opened up at the beginning of Summer 2018, giving travelers a new way to see the hills, on the back of a scooter.
"You go through the hills, all tourists are usually in their cars and they're limited to what they can see by different pieces of a car, you have different parts of a windshield that cuts off views, I thought maybe a scooter rental here in the Hills would b e awesome. Everywhere I go on vacation, there is always scooter rentals there and it's usually the best way to see the area and I thought the Black Hills could definitely use this," said Danny Anderson, owner.
Black Hills Scootours is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you want to ride, you can call ahead and book it or visit their website at www.blackhillscootours.com
Another Keystone Business is offering a unique vacation experience, gold mining.
Big Thunder Gold Mine gives visitors to the Black Hills the opportunity to pan for gold or gems, take a mine tour, or try creek panning.
"People want something that happens to them, a good experience on a tour, all they're looking to do is have fun on their vacation and they want something a little bit different than the ordinary and that's something we can offer them at a very high capacity," said Sandra McClain.
She says Big Thunder is already seeing an increase in their business for July, and it is not just because of the Fourth of July holiday.
"Actually the entire month, it begins to ramp up, the business begins to ramp up. It is huge amounts of people, it is better than it was last year and last year was our best year," she continues.
Big Thunder Gold Mine welcomes visitors every day of the week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
