RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - This not-for-profit organization is "helping women achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life."
Dress for Success just recently opened its doors in the Rushmore Mall.
Women in need of clothing to wear for a job interview are referred by several community partners including the Department of Labor and the Cornerstone Rescue Mission to name a few.
Since opening, Dress for Success in Rapid City has suited nearly 10 women and say they are looking forward to building up many more.
"They're going through crisis, they're going through really difficult times and they put on a suit and it changes their entire persona, it juts lifts their shoulder, lifts their chin and they just feel like they can tackle anything," said Sarah Baker, executive director of Dress for Success.
It does not stop after that interview though. The program continues to support the women even after they enter the career world.
"How do you get through an interview, after that, what does the first weeks, months, and years on the job look like. What do you want to be when you grow up? What's your career path progression so our mission really is to empower the women in our community to just be the very best version of themselves they can," Baker continued.
