A local woman is turning her passion for dogs into a way to earn some extra cash and spend more time with her little one.

Alison Herman says she has always been an animal lover.

She began working with animals four years ago, first working at a day care service, and later a veterinary clinic.

Through www.Rover.com, an online marketplace to buy and sell pet care services, Herman works mainly Monday through Friday, watching over pets while their owners are working.

Occasionally, Herman also offers overnight boarding in her home.

A new mother, Herman says this is a great way for her to unwind.

"My daughter is getting older, starting to show interest in dogs, we have two dogs at home, so I just want something that we can do together, get us out of the house. It's something I love doing so if it's something I can do with her, make a little bit of extra money and that's just what we enjoy," Herman said.

To book Herman for your furry friends, search www.Rover.com or send her an email at ali.herman13@yahoo.com.

This store has just about everything you need at the prices you want.

Discount Overstocks located at 651 N Creek Dr. in Rapid City has been open for three years.

The store's goal is to buy products that are pulled off of the shelf at big box stores, such as seasonal offerings, and hand them off to Rapid City consumers at a reasonable price.

Customers can shop for food, clothing, furniture, house ware and much more.

Management says with 90-95 percent of everything brand new, and a large ever-changing variety, you never know what you're going to get.

"It's kind of fun because it's like a treasure hunt for most people. They come in and they look around. It's not like a normal store. It's more like a huge brand new garage sale," said Rodger Slott, manager at Discount Overstocks.

Slott says Discount Overstocks gets better and better each year so stop by and give it a try.
