There's going to be a change at the top at Black Hills Corporation.
The company says chairman and chief executive officer David Emery is going to retire as CEO on December 31st.
Emery served in that position for the past 15 years and as chairman of the board for the past 14 years.
He's been a part of Black Hills Corp since joining the company as a petroleum engineer back in 1989.
According to a release, Emery notified the board of his retirement on Monday.
That release says Emery will stay on as the executive chairman of the board until May of 2020.
The Board of Directors named current president and chief operating officer Linn Evans to take over for Emery as CEO on January 1st.
The company currently serves 1.25 million electric and natural gas customers in eight states.
