Taxes are due on April 17th this year, and there's some things you can do to prepare.
We'll tell you how in this week's Black Hills Business Report.
Professionals at Liberty Tax say those who file their taxes earlier get their returns earlier.
Not only that, but if you forgot necessary documents, you will have more time to turn them in if you're ahead of the game.
One tax professional says they often see clients who missed an education tax credit or a child tax credit, missing out on hundreds of dollars on their return.
Lead Tax Preparer Zanobia Oliver says, "Preparing your taxes with a professional is I would say a must do especially if you have something a little bit more than a simple form. There are changes in the tax laws every single year. We have a big change coming up for 2018 and we do extensive training to learn those laws and be able to get you the most accurate return possible."
And taxes aren't the only things coming up, but gas prices as well.
According to a study from Gas Buddy, gas prices in South Dakota are nearly 23 cents per gallon higher Monday than they were a year ago on February 12th.
GasBuddy's daily survey looked at 628 gas stations in South Dakota, and they averaged at $2.52 yesterday.
