Landen Fischer says,'I think It's important to be a leader by example. If you are just somebody who runs his mouth and doesn't really do what you're saying then it doesn't do you any good.'

Landen Fischer backed up his words by upsetting the previously unbeaten Cael Larsen in the region 4A tournament.

Fischer says, ' I was so excited. I had lost to him three times so I knew this week I had to get him, it was regions to get some momentum going into state and I just worked on some things all week to improve on.'

Travis King says, ' You never know until that buzzer goes off, but for me, I was really excited inside. I compete with these kids every match, my heart goes out with them winning and losing.'

Earning that win, helped fire up the entire Raider wrestling team.

King says, ' A really good experience for our kids to see that. We always talk about those matches were basically we try to tell you to win one where you aren't supposed to.'

Fischer says, ' My brother wrestles right after me at 120 so when I got that win the whole team was just so excited and I definitely think that carried on to his match and the rest of the guys for the tournament.'

Now Fischer turns his attention to the last matches of his high school career, the State tournament.

Fischer says, ' Taking it day by day the last couple of days just soaking it in, in the room, tuning up what I have to fix and working hard to beat Cael one last time to get that title.'

Earning a title and having his name amongst the Raider greats on the wall in the wrestling room is the way Fischer plans on leaving his legacy.

King says, ' Oh I think it's going to mean a lot to him. I got take his words but his name on that board, and he will have a number by it somewhere and we're hoping it will be first and say champion. But we know it will take a lot of hard work.'

Fischer, ' Really excited to be able to look and see the other names I recognize. Klaprods, John Henrich, all those guys I used to look up to, and now to be one of those guys on the board, I'm super excited.'

Congratulations to Landen Fischer on being this week's athlete of the week, and good luck in the upcoming state tournament. Jeff Voss Black Hills Fox Sports.
