AMBER Alert issued in SD for Washington State kids

UPDATE: An Amber Alert issued in South Dakota for two Washington State children was cancelled late Monday night after their father, Paul Brown, was apprehended in Kimball. Brown has been charged with cruelty to a minor, and the two children are in protective custody.

ORIGINAL REPORT: An Amber Alert was issued in South Dakota shortly after 9 p.m. Monday for two children from Washington State believed to be with their father, Paul Brown.

Authorities say Brown and his boys, 3-year-old Chance and 1-year-old Hunter, were last seen in Maple Valley, WA, on Friday. They say Chance has a life-threatening medical condition, Lowe's syndrome, and requires extensive care. They do not believe his father has the necessary supplies or training to provide the necessary care.

The AMBER Alert says the Browns were seen in Joliet, WY, around noon Monday heading east on Interstate 90 and made a purchase in Spearfish, SD, at about 4:30 p.m. the same day. Authorities say they may be headed to the Chicago area.

The vehicle they are believed to be traveling in is a white, 2-door, 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, with Washington license plate #AYM 6244.
