Live auction to benefit Deadwood History, Inc. on Friday

DEADWOOD, S.D. (KEVN TV) - Get ready to kick up your heels to musical entertainment while keeping the history of Deadwood alive.

The 10th Annual Calamity Jane Shindig is a live auction to help raise money for Deadwood History, Inc.

Cami Dohman will portray the rough and rowdy character herself, Calamity Jane and Andy Mohser will play Con Stapleton, the first and only Marshall of the town.

Both will help take guests back in history as they get a chance to bid on 19 items such as a Homestake gold coin, vacation home rentals and a dinner with Craig Johnson, the author of the Longmire series.

The event Friday night will be held at the Homestake Adams Research and Cultural Center, with live music by guests such as Kenny Putnam and Jami Lynn.

Mohser says it's so important to keep Deadwood history alive.

"Deadwood is the coolest place on the planet. The history is unbelievable," says Mosher. "All the cowboys, gold and gun fights. Wild Bill, Calamity Jane. What more could you ask for? It's incredible. Come and learn about it."

Tickets can be purchased at Deadwood History.
