Crews prepping civic center after the Black Hills Stock Show

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The Stock Show is done and crews are busy tearing down equipment; getting the Don Barnett Arena ready for its next event.

Dozens of truckloads of dirt were hauled away from the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. After that, it is sweeping and moping to clean up all the remnants of the event. Fences, booths, tables and chairs were also packed up and moved out.

And, just because the event is over, doesn't mean organizers are taking a break. Work is already under way for next year.

"You know we learned a lot things about this year's Stock Show," said Ron Jeffries, Central States Fair and Black Hills Stock Show general manager. "Funny after 21 years we're still finding out how we can make improvements. We learned that people are looking for some entertainment, some musical entertainment that first weekend."

Next year's Stock Show will run from Jan. 24 through Feb. 2.
