Goodwill to expand operations in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Goodwill of the Great Plains is expanding their operations in Rapid City by adding another retail store on the east side of town.

They held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday at their new spot which is located right next to Timmons Market on Timmons Boulevard, next to Elk Vale Road.

According to Goodwill, the new the store will provide jobs to 12 community members as well as serve additional job training services to the area that their other location in North Rapid provides. Their job center gives community members free job seeking support like resume and application assistance as well as computers for job searching and training.

"Oh it's really fulfilling, we have a great mission. Our mission is to help become independent through employment and we're able to do that in a variety of ways," said John Hantla, president of Goodwill of the Great Plains. "We're entrepreneurial so we work with employers, we work with chamber, we work with government and we're able to just use resources and bring people together and provide solutions for the communities"

The current job center in Rapid City is one of four in the region that has helped over 1,000 individuals get jobs in their communities. This new location is expected to be competed this August.
