RAPID CITY, (KEVN TV) - A new wave of affordable housing projects will be popping up around the state.
The Housing Development Authority is giving out 13.2 million dollars of grant money in total to build these projects.
Black Hills Works now can build a new apartment on Wright Street off of Haines Avenue.

Black Hills Works will receive 750 thousand dollars to create a new apartment building with handicap accessible features.
The organization's C-E-O says most housing in Rapid City do not cater to the disabled.
It will house six disabled individuals who thrive better alone rather than in a group home.
They plan to keep the monthly rent under 400 dollars to allow residents to pay for a place to call home.

"When we can actually make housing options, residential options, match for folks. So many times we run into people and their families and there's a person with a disability in the home and trying to find that right environment that they can live in and that's unique to everybody," says Black Hills Works CEO Brad Saathoff.

The construction plans to start in the Spring of 2019.
