RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A jury has been seated in the trial of Donald Willingham, the Washington state man accused of nearly beating to death South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Zac Bader.
Opening statements are taking place Tuesday morning.
Willingham faces several charges, including attempted first degree murder. Willingham is accused of attacking Bader during a traffic stop on Interstate 90 east of Rapid City in October 2015.
Three others who were with Willingham have pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against him.
Investigators say the traffic stop led to the recovery of more than 50 pounds of marijuana, $33,000 and a handgun.
