2 people arrested following early morning dispute

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - A dispute early Wednesday morning ends with arrests for aggravated assault and drugs.

Two Rapid City people -- Dustin Eck, 33; and Tate Hoffman, 29 -- were arrested.

• Eck was charged with aggravated assault, commission of a felony with a firearm, concealed weapon without a permit, ingestion of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Hoffman was arrested for distribution of a controlled substance, ingestion of a controlled substance and a warrant.

The arrests followed a dispute in the area of North Maple and Anamosa streets around 3 a.m. Wednesday. Police say a suspect pointed a gun at another person before leaving the area.

Police stopped the suspect’s vehicle a while later near Omaha Street and I-190. A search of the vehicle turned up a handgun, a glass pipe and a large amount of white pills that police say is Xanax (a controlled substance).

No one was injured in the original dispute or the stop of the suspect’s vehicle.
