Alexus Davila joined the team in the fall of 2018 as a multimedia journalist.

The New York native’s love for writing started when she wrote her first book at the age of three with crayons and colored-paper. But her love for television news storytelling sparked when she moved to Florida, where she was selected to join the journalism/news team in middle school.

Following her passion, Alexus attended the University of Florida where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications at the age of 20. She is also a graduate of the college’s Honors Program. She is the first in her family to graduate from college.

In college, Alexus started in the college radio station, WUFT-FM. She was a radio news reporter for the 2016 Presidential Election. She interviewed several politicians like Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Hillary Clinton’s running mate Tim Kaine, Florida Representative Ted Yoho and former Florida Senator Rod Smith.

Alexus hit the ground running as a WUFT-TV First at Five reporter by covering local elections on her first day. Alexus covered Hurricane Irma floods, Puerto Rico Relief Fund projects, and several crime stories like the Gainesville Valentine’s Day apartment shooting. Alexus became a news anchor and producer for the station’s Super 90 show. A 90 second live show of news highlights for the day.

Alexus learned the most as an intern at WESH 2 News in Winter Park, FL. The most memorable day for her was interviewing an emotional friend of one of the victims from the Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting.

When Alexus isn’t reporting she loves to explore the community by meeting new people and trying new things. After all, this is her first time in the Midwest.
