RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - On Saint Patrick’s Day, there’s no denying that people like to celebrate. That’s usually done by drinking a bit more than one might regularly.

The drinks of choice on this special holiday tend to favor Irish heritage like Jameson Whiskey and Guinness beer. Which, Murphy’s Pub and Grill say are served for breakfast lunch and dinner.

When it comes to Guinness, the perfect pour is done in three phases, with a brief wait in between, and topped off with a clover in the foam.

For a bartender, the sudden craving for Irish drinks is shown through heaps of people waiting at the bar top. Making for a dream come true, or a terrible nightmare, or, ”A little bit of both,” says Jimmy Allen, Bar Manager at the pub. “It’s a nightmare until it shows up, and then it’s just fun and great. You know? The more people the better. Day goes quicker.”

Allen says while the bar sees a good amount of people, their food is what really flies off the shelf with authentic Irish eats like corn beef and cabbage.

He says the past couple of years haven’t been as busy as it’s been in years past, but he’s optimistic this year will prove differently.
