Severe storms in the Overnight
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - We are looking at severe weather starting right before sunset and then taking us on a bumpy ride into the overnight hours. A dryline set up camp to our west and the difference in moisture stark from one side of the line to the other. Our dewpoints have been very soupy across western South Dakota.
Our dewpoints rivaled those along the Gulf Coast in the 60s and beyond. The front that is heading our way will add the lift that will eventually fire off thunderstorms and showers across the area. It will also eventually cool us off and make our temperatures feel like something closer to normal for Friday.
That nice and moderate normal temperature profile will be rather short-lived as high pressure builds back in and gives us temperatures that will again get to well-above average starting this weekend and into next. Next week we are looking at models that could take our temperatures close to the triple digit range by midweek. We will continue to monitor that.
