South Dakota has kicked off tourism season on a high-note
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - The weather is nice, the doors are open and around the City of Presidents people are out and about enjoying the beginning stages of summer, and and a busy summer for the area’s tourism industry.
Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start to the tourism season, and CEO of Visit Rapid City, Julie Schmitz Jensen, says the turnout for the holiday weekend went well. “The visitors that came to our area were so ready to get out of their homes and to explore the outdoors,” she said. “This is going to be a good year. Everybody is optimistic about 2021.”
It isn’t just Rapid City that draws tourists into the state.
Visitors come to the Black Hills, they visit Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower and the Badlands National Park.
Mount Rushmore also felt the positive impact of the holiday weekend, and Independence Day is expected to have a busy season
One word of advice for both locals and visitors: patience. Be patient on the roadways.
Everybody who lives in Rapid City needs to practice patience and be kind to visitors as they navigate the mysteries of our beautiful state.
