UPDATE: One man dead after deputy involved shooting Friday afternoon
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) -
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call to remove an intoxicated family member who was involved in a physical and verbal dispute with the homeowners.
According to Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom, the man returned to his residence across the street by the time the Sheriff’s Office responded, he confronted deputies with a long gun and leveled the gun at people on the scene, and ignored commands to drop it.
The scene has now been turned over to the South Dakota Highway Patrol and RCPD. DCI and Meade County will be handling the investigation of the shooting

An official with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office tells us ... there has been a shooting... involving a deputy.
Authorities tell us it happened this afternoon.... near the intersection of Morris Lane and Radar Hill Road.
