Area 3 seat opens up on RCAS Board of Education
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - At the Sept. 28 Rapid City Area Schools Board of Education meeting, one member announced they will be stepping down from serving the district.
Brian Johnson, who serves for Area 3, says he and his wife have moved to a new residence in Rapid City. The new location isn’t within Area 3. This leaves the spot open.
While the pandemic has led to some difficult decisions recently, Johnson says he wouldn’t trade his time on the school board for anything.
“It breaks my heart to have to resign, to have to step down. I don’t always agree with all of you but I love working with all of you. It has been fun to come to decisions and conclusions with you guys. You all have different perspectives on things and that has made for a better board,” Brian Johnson, former 2nd vice president said.
Johnson will stay on the board until his position is filled.
Residents who reside in Area 3 (see map https://bit.ly/2HHf31b) can apply by filling out the application found here: https://bit.ly/30kuoLo. A paper application is available at the Rapid City Education Center located at 625 Ninth Street at the front desk.
Applications will be accepted through 4 p.m. Oct. 30. Interviews will occur in early November 2020. The term runs until July 2022.
