Suspect dead after RCPD encountered an officer involved shooting

Rapid City, (KEVN-TV) The Rapid City Police Department has confirmed that the RCPD has encountered an officer involved shooting this evening.

The RCPD says a little after 6 this evening a Rapid City Police Officer was called to the scene of an unwanted subject at 541 Paha Sapa Road.
A spokesperson for the P–D says a short time after the officer arrived, a subject charged and threatened the officer with a knife and the officer shot the subject an unknown number of times.
The P–D says the subject was pronounced dead a short time later, the officer and all other occupants of the residence are uninjured.
The Rapid City Police Department has asked the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office to conduct the investigation.
