Spearfish, (KEVN-TV) It was an afternoon of celebrations at Black Hills State University as staff, students and community members attended inauguration ceremonies for the school's new president.

Dr. Tom Jackson Jr. began his tenure as president back in July and like many of the students who enroll at BHSU, Jackson is a first generation college graduate.
Colleagues of Jackson say his history is one of cultivating strong relationships with campus and community partners, and are pleased to celebrate the occasion.
Jackson says the day is not about him, but it is strictly about the university.

Dr. Tom Jackson Jr., Black Hills State University President said, "An inauguration is really about the university and its legacy and its community and so, I'm feeling pretty excited because I looked around and I could see all of the individuals in the audience and everywhere else, they were just ecstatic about our theme and about being here today. It was a celebration of Black Hills State University."

Jackson's inauguration makes him the tenth president of Black Hills State University.
