SPORTS DIRECTOR

Job Summary:

KEVN Black Hills FOX in Rapid City, South Dakota is seeking a Sports Director. The Sports Director will manage a the sports department, and carry a lot of responsibility. The Director will serve help to oversee sports stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging and meaningful to the viewer. We are looking for someone who is energetic, self-sufficient, has good on-air presence and loves to tell good local sports stories. Will be a part of our weekly Rapid City Rush hockey program. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working in a professional newsroom. A passion for local sports coverage and the drive to produce great content as a team is a must!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead direction of Sports Department
• Anchor two daily sportscasts
• Report, shoot and edit sports stories and highlights
• Come up with good local sports ideas and drive sports coverage in a local direction

Requirements
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Must be able to shoot and edit
• Must be self-motivated
• Must be able to continue online coverage along with social media
• Must be able to guide weekend sports anchor on sports department plan
• Must be a good newsroom leader
• Must be confident on live coverage and any special coverage as well

This project will be completed in early fall of 2017 and will feature new sets, all new furniture, state-of- the-art technology in a 20,000 sq. ft. facility. KOTA and KEVN feature separate brands with separate on-air talent dedicated to local news. KOTA & KEVN are dedicated to informing the public, utilizing television, social media and the area’s only local live-streaming newscast. Our team produces six (6) daily news casts M-F and six (6) newscasts each weekend.
