The Stevens Raider boys gear up for the State Tournament

The Stevens Raider boys are just days from making their final push for a Double-A State Basketball Title, and the club is eager to make the most of the opportunity.

The Raiders are gearing up for their first round match-up against Pierre.
The Raiders come into the Thursday contest as the third-seeds. Head Coach Chris Stoebner says he feels he has the team with the passion and hustle to have a big impact against the rest of the state's best, but you can't win a championship without getting the win over the Governors first.

Stoebner says, 'We're watching a lot of film and preparing. They've got two really good players, one's a post, one's a guard, so that makes it very tough to match up. They're very physical, very disciplined. It's going to be a battle. It doesn't matter who we're playing this weekend; they're all going to be a battle, and Pierre's no exception. It'll be a test for us.'

The Raiders begin their tournament run against the Pierre Governors at 7 o'clock Thursday night at the Civic Center Ice Arena.
Both the Double-A boys and girls' tournaments will be held at the Civic Center Thursday through Saturday.
