The South Dakota Mines made its home debut this evening - taking on Dixie State, on a brand new Dunham Field.
Scoreless to start this game off, but not for long. Three and a half minutes in, the Hardrockers on the 3 yard line. Kevin Thompson takes the hand off and runs it in for the touchdown. The South Dakota Mines take the early 7-nothing lead.
The Rockers with the ball again - going for it on the 4th and 9. Jake Sullivan looking for the open receiver, flicks it over to Ian Anderson, who plows his way up the left side, picking up 25 yards on the play before going down at the 8 yard line.
The Mines now 2nd and goal. Sullivan takes off to the left and finds Isaiah Manley in the end zone for another Hardrocker touchdown. The extra point puts SD Mines up 14-nothing early.
Dixie State on the board with 7, and the Hardrockers are back at it on offense. Sullivan gives the hand off to Dorian Cowart. The Hardrockers with lots of weapons this year, and he is certainly one of them. Cowart follows his blockers and takes it to the 8 yard line on the 67 yard pick up.
Then, Sullivan on the keeper, runs it in for the touchdown - putting the South Dakota Mines in the 21-7 lead in the 1st quarter.
The Hardrockers move to 2-and-0 on the season, getting the win 35-14.
