Rush hockey is back in action. The Rapid City Rush rang in the start of its 10th season this weekend kicking things off with the Allen Americans.
We'll go to the Rush home-opener on Friday night... This is Allen, so are we surprised that this was a scrappy match? 40 penalty minutes were handed out in the 60 minute game...
Rapid City struck first with the goal from Alex Guptill early in the first period.
The Allen Americans answered back with 3 goals of their own before the first period was over.
Kenton Miller and Marcus Ortiz both lit up the goal in the second.
But it wasn't enough.
In the Rush home opener, Allen took home the win, 8-3 the final score on Friday night.
And on Saturday, it was the Americans coming out on top again, but not as painful as the night before, the Rush fall 5-3.
After the first week of games, let's take a look at the standings for the Mountain Division. The Allen Americans won its first two games, and is sitting on top with 4 points. Colorado and Wichita also won the first two games and are right up there in 2nd and 3rd. Idaho is in 4th with 2 points followed by Utah, Tulsa and Rapid City who have zero points after the first week of games.
Here's a look at the upcoming schedule. The Rush hit the road for a two game set against the Wichita Thunder on Saturday and Sunday.
Then the Rush go head to head with division rival, Colorado. The first game is in Eagle territory on Friday, and then the teams head to Rapid City for a Saturday contest.
