South Dakota Mines opens football season with a Sunday scrimmage

It's already that time of year, it's football season. Sunday, the South Dakota School of Mines put on their pads and helmets, and took to a brand new Dunham Field.

Last year the Hardrockers had the solid 5-and-1 start to the season, but fell to some injury and lost some close games after that.
The School of Mines ended under 500 for the season. But head coach Zach Tinker says to get ready, because it's a new year, and a new team.

Tinker says, 'Yeah, I think what you're going to see is that we have a lot of new comers that are going to make an impact on the program. I don't think there's any doubt that every single season your team is brand new. What you did a season ago doesn't really mean anything. Our team is brand new, we're excited for this brand new team, and I think when people come out and see us at Dunham Field they're going to be very very excited about the product they see.'

The Hardrockers will head to Missouri for the first game of the season against William Jewell on August 31st... and will return to town for its home opener, taking on Dixie State on September 9th.
