The annual Rapid City Invitational Wrestling tournament kicks off tomorrow, and the region's best will make their way to the Black Hills.
Thursday, the Central Cobblers, alongside the Sturgis Scoopers, hosted a pair of warm-up duals on the mats at Naasz Gym
We'll start it off on the Sturgis mats.
Late in the action, 220 pounds, Sturgis' Joel Carpenter against Aberdeen Central's Trajan LaRocque. Midway through the match, Carpenter scoops up the single and drives the double to get the takedown.
Carpenter wasn't finishes as he'd defend a late takedown from LaRocque, then scoots around to pick up another two. Carpenter will take this one by major decision.
Over to the Cobbler mats, 170 pounds, Zach Solano and Huron's Nick Christensen, Solano just rips the double, right to Christensen's back and will eventually notch the pin.
Up to 220 pounds, Timmy Paris against Marshal Simons and Paris muscles Simons onto is back and Paris will card the stick.
Now to the 285 pound weight class, Donavan Spencer against Devyn Balster and Spencer snatches the ankle, pushes Balster to his back and will lean on him until he gets the pin.
