You can call it the ski holiday in none other than the mountains of the Mile High.
Jessica Noteboom, Executive Director for the Lead Area Chamber of Commerce, says "We have unique ski and snow culture in the Lead Area and it really highlights our community.
The 2018 Winterfest features a steel wheel snowmobile poker run, snow yoga, Northern Hills Recreation, a bike race, fireworks and much more.
The chamber says they are so fortunate to host the event in a place like Lead.
Noteboom continues, "We have backyard trail access, midday powder days and unique people and businesses that make us so special."
She says it also does something special for Lead's economy
"We hope to bring in local area people and tourist as a whole but also bring in surrounding community people to eat drink and play in our town."
Although snow might not be falling from the sky this weekend, winter fest activities will not fall short.
"We have plenty of snow but of course, we're always praying for snow because we love it here. Our tagline this year is snow days are the best days."
For people not feeling the cold, the event will also feature Winterfest Snowbash, a three-day live music festival offering local artists in the Black Hills.
The festival kicked off this evening with people enjoying soups, sweets and songs at the lead area chamber mixer and sounds from Lee & McKee.
