Wildfire burns structure and 3,000 acres near Wanblee

A fire has burned 3,000 acres in Wanblee, leaving a structure damaged.

Pennington County Fire Administrator Jerome Harvey tells us the fire is at zero percent containment. Two single engine air tankers have been assigned to the blaze.
As outside resources continue to make their way to the scene, the communities of Wanblee and George Town are not threatened at this time.
Suppression efforts have been hampered by drought-stressed vegetation and steep, inaccessible terrain.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is leading the investigation.
