TSA tweaks airport security rules

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Travelers are now required to place all electronics bigger than a cellphone in bins for x-ray screenings when going through the security checkpoint.

Just like laptops, these devices need to be placed in their own bin with nothing above or below it. This allows TSA officers to get a clear view of the x-ray screen as well as the contents of the carry-on bag.

Travelers will also have to place their 1-quart bag containing liquids, gels and aerosols in their own bin as well.

These changes were tested at 10 different airports over the last several months. They'll be implemented in all airports nationwide late spring of this year.
