Sturgis Rally traffic continues to climb

STURGIS, S.D. (KEVN) - Sturgis Rally traffic continues to climb as the 78th biker bash nears the final weekend.

According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, rally traffic was up 11.4 percent Wednesday when compared with last year.

After six days of the 10-day event, the DOT counters show that traffic has increased 5.1 percent when compared to the same period in 2017.

• Friday, Aug. 3: 49,424 entering – up 1.9 percent
• Saturday, Aug. 4: 60,119 entering – up 10.8 percent
• Sunday, Aug. 5: 52,153 entering – down 4.2 percent
• Monday, Aug. 6: 59,431 entering – up 1.55 percent
• Tuesday, Aug. 7: 60,281 entering – up 8.8 percent
• Wednesday, Aug. 8: 60,608 entering – up 11.4 percent

The DOT counts rally traffic at nine locations.
