Spearfish man gets 10 years in federal custody

Nicholaus Tripp previously came to a plea agreement with the United States government in which he pleaded guilty to enticing a minor using the internet ... knowingly trying to entice 2 minors to engage in sexual acts.

According to the factual basis statement Tripp signed ... he believed he was talking to a mother of a 13 year old girl.
Tripp began the conversations in December 2016 and attempted to meet the children in the T-G-I Friday's parking lot.

Judge Jeffrey Viken sentenced Tripp to the minimum of 10 years in federal custody and 10 years of supervised release.

Once Tripp completes his sentence he must registered as a sex offender.

The other charges against Tripp were dropped in the plea deal.
