South Dakota prison inmate dies

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KEVN) - Larry Black Bear, 46, passed away Dec. 24 at a Sioux Falls hospital, according to a release from the state Department of Corrections.

In 1993, Black Bear was sentenced to 160 years in prison for first-degree manslaughter out of Meade County.

Black Bear admitted to taking part in the beating death of John Mouse aux along a rural county road in April 1993. Theodore New was convicted of murdering Mouse aux. A third person present during the murder, Augustine White Horse, was acquitted.
