Skaters take center ice for annual show

Rapid City, SD Local skaters brought their skills to the ice for an annual show at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena this weekend.

The Winter Ice Show includes performances from members of both the Black Hills Figure Skating Club and Black Hills Skating Academy.

This year's theme was 'American Ice' and skaters have been practicing for months.

And the talent follows them outside the arena as well.

Lauren Eccarius, an ice skater, said "To learn how to work hard - you can apply that to jobs and to school. And you just learn a lot from people along the way. You can have a lot of wisdom which can tell you a lot of things."

Paige Zimiga, an ice skater, said "You just have fun. And most of the time it's not competitive, you just get to have fun."

Paige Zimiga is one the club's youngest skaters at just 6-years-old.

The event serves as a fundraiser - and organizers say they're always looking for new members.
