WALL, S.D. (KEVN TV) - One person was killed early Monday morning east of Wall in a crash involving two semi-trucks and trailers.
Names of the deceased and two other men who were injured are not being released pending notification of family members.
According to a release from the state Department of Public Safety, a 2014 Volvo VNL semi-truck and trailer was eastbound on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control. The driver overcorrected and the tractors and trailer tipped over and blocked both eastbound lanes of I-90.
Both the driver, 29, and the passenger, 27, were able to safely get out of the truck before an eastbound 2010 D120 freightliner, pulling double trailers, collided with the first semi-truck and trailer. The second driver, a 65-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Charges are pending against the driver of the first semi, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, which is continuing to investigate the crash.
Due to a large debris area, the two eastbound lanes were closed to traffic for several hours.
