Public encouraged to attend Pennington County Pre-Disaster Plan

By  |

On Monday evening Pennington County planned to hold a Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan Progress meeting in Hill City.

Unfortunately no one attended tonight's meeting at the Senior Citizens Center.
The Pre Disaster plan updates are held every 5 years.
The idea of the meeting is to help create a more strategic plan that can be used to identify weaknesses, and refocus emergency response planning.

Pennington County Emergency Management Dustin Willett says, " FEMA mandates and encourages community involvement and that's only right. Meetings like this or events like this are our way of trying to solicit that public input. And historically they are pretty dismally attended, its hard to get people excited about pre-disaster litigation"

The public is encouraged to attend these meetings and give their opinions and feedback
There are two other meetings planned--- one on January 9th in Wall at 6:30 at the Community Center meeting room and one Thursday January 11th in Rapid City at the Rapid City Public Library in the Hoyt Meeting room.
