North Middle School in Rapid City was on lockdown for a bit Thursday afternoon.
The school district says a former student stopped at the front desk, then walked away, and the school was put on lockdown when he couldn't be located.
They say security footage showed him with a large backpack, running out of the building when the lockdown announcement was made.
Rapid City Police say the 14-year old boy was found at the Civic Center with a marijuana pipe and a small folding knife.
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon on school grounds and was released to his parents.
Police say they have no reason to believe the boy intended to harm anyone at the school.
