The Rapid City Police Department says one man is dead after a vehicle pedestrian accident Wednesday night.
RCPD said that a pickup collided with a pedestrian on Haines Avenue earlier Wednesday evening.
Police say the 43-year-old male pedestrian was running west across Haines Avenue near Patton Street.
The 81-year-old male driver was travelling southbound when his vehicle collided with the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities say the driver was going the speed limit and did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol.
Sgt. Jeff Alexander says, "Both if you're driving, make sure you're paying attention to crosswalks and pedestrians crossing the street. Pedestrians, make sure you're paying close attention as you're trying to cross the street and make sure that people are acknowledging you before you start going into the street."
Sergeant Alexander says the driver was not injured and is not facing any pending charges at the moment.
The crash is still under investigation.
