Lynyrd Skynyrd cancels rally performance

STURGIS, S.D. (KEVN TV) - Lynyrd Skynyrd canceled Tuesday's concert at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.

Doctors ordered guitarist Gary Rossington to take the week off after a medical procedure last week. Rossington, the sole surviving founding member of the group, suffered a mild heart attack two years ago while on tour. Last week's procedure included adding stints in his heart.

It was previously reported that lead singer Johnny Van Zant suffered a heart attack, a report based on incorrect information that was provided. A representative of Vector Management, which represents the band, claims that is false.

Country singer Gary Allan will perform at the Buffalo Chip Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. in place of Lynyrd Skynyrd.
