It's never too early to save up for your education, and a few local middle schoolers are doing just that.
On Wednesday National American University awarded money to five middle school students for writing top-notch essays for the "My PLAN for the Future Scholarship competition."
Eighth grader Kelli Siemieniak was the overall winner... selected from more than 200 applicants.
She says she wrote her essay about wanting to be a neurologist because of her parents.
Overall winner Kelli Siemieniak says, "My parents suffered from neurological disorders and so it's kind of a close cause. Well thank you very much for firstly because it's such a great honor and it's very nice of them (NAU) to do such a thing, especially for middle schoolers."
Kelli earned $250 for her essay.
Four other middle schoolers earned $50 scholarships and an Honorable Mention.
