Hundreds of slash piles burned in Black Hills

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - People can expect to see smoke west of Custer Thursday due to slash pile burns.

According to Great Plains Fire Information, Hell Canyon Fire District crews will burn about 100 piles in the Black Hills National Forest, five miles west of Custer.

This is in addition to the 126 piles the district crews started to burn Wednesday near Red Bank Spring.
