Hundreds of Catholic dioceses across America and Canada met at the Ramkota hotel in Rapid City this evening to pray to the first and only Native American saint.

People gathered for the prayer at the 78th annual Tekakwitha Conference.
Saint Kateri Tekakwitha is known among Native American people for being diligent, patient, and devout.

The Oglala Sioux Tribal President says it's nice seeing people of all different backgrounds come together.

\Oglala Sioux Tribal President Troy "Scott" Weston says, "Well it should be like this just for this conference. We should do this every day. We should - everybody prays in a different denomination, but we all pray to one God."

This 4 day conference will continue through Saturday with more panels and keynote speakers each day.
