Rapid City, SD The annual Hills Alive Music festival officially kicked off at Main Street Square Friday .

Some of the biggest names in Christian music have joined together in the hills for a two day event.

Friday, five artists played the stage at Main Street Square for a free taste
of what's to come.

One group is joining the festival all the way from Nashville and they say Hills Alive is a prime spot for Christian artists.

"For us to play here, especially tonight in this setting, where there are so many people and we're just here singing praises and just lifting up the name of the Lord, to me when you get a bunch of people together and you worship, there's just something so special about that so tonight we're really honored to be here and we're playing on the main stage tomorrow."

The Afters are kicking off the events Saturday at Memorial Park on the main stage at noon.
