Rockerville, SD They were getting chilly for a great cause ... as one restaurant is raising money to fight a disease that hits close to home.

The Gaslight Restaurant and Saloon is hosting their 3rd annual A-L-S Ice Dunk fundraiser today in Rockerville.

Members of the community climbed into an icy dunk tank and for a ten dollar donation to A-L-S research they could toss softballs to plunge a person into the water.

Folks could nominate someone to get into the dunk tank for 20 dollars and the owners started this event as a way to combat the disease that has affected their family.

Matthew Spaans, Gaslight Saloon owner says, "A lot of our family members have died from ALS. We have five in our family now and also one of our head coaches from Hill City died of ALS as well. It just shows that this is all community outside of Rapid is just a great community and everyone steps up and helps support a great cause. So it's just a great tight-knit community here."

The event also featured over 80 items in a silent auction and a put-put golf green to win free drinks.
