RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) - Firefighters will burn about 137 acres in a prescribed fire Wednesday at Angostura State Park.
The prescribed fire will be in the northeast corner of the park.
According to the state Department of Agriculture, the burn will improve native grass growth; and provide safe and quality training for the firefighters.
Weather conditions will be monitored closely to ensure prescribed fire conditions align with management objectives for the burn.
Smoke may be visible in the surrounding areas, and can linger for several days.
Mop up and monitoring will continue the following days.
