'Downtown Countdown' lights up Main Street Square

Main Street Square is lighting up the New Year with a celebration on the ice rink.

JD Productions helps light up the rink with disco lights and music.
This is the company's fifth year hosting the event, but Main Street Square has always put on a family-friendly New Year's bash downtown.
Saturday's festivities were also complete with games and prizes for skaters.
Organizers say it's important to have a New Year's event welcoming of all ages.

Jimmy Dettman, with JD Productions, said "There's a lot of great events going on in town. A lot of them are surrounded by adult entertainment - alcohol and those kind of things. So to have event down here that's family friendly and people can come out and feel free to bring everybody, and not have to worry about it. And it's early in the evening, before anybody drives around. 5 to 9 is a good time slot as well."

The celebration started at 5 and ended at 9 p.m.
JD Productions specializes in dances and weddings.
